Building Climate Readiness for Cultural Institutions
This site shares the work completed through the NEH Climate Smart Planning Grant, a collaborative effort between the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Linda Hall Library, and more than a dozen cultural, educational, and civic institutions in Kansas City’s cultural district.
The goal of this grant was not to design capital projects or prescribe solutions, but to create a repeatable, measurable framework for evaluating climate readiness across six lenses.
This framework can be adopted by other institutions in the district and beyond to track progress, identify shared needs, and strengthen long-term resilience.
North Star Commitment: Through the coordinated effort of the NEH Climate Smart Plan, we will deepen our combined ability to communicate and preserve culture and knowledge for future generations.
